Our wedding will be held on Thursday, August 22nd, 2019 at Virginia Park Lodge in County Cavan, Ireland.
We love Virginia Park Lodge for so many reasons (the beautiful countryside landscape, the connection to Meaghan’s home state in the U.S. and the amazing, organic food grown on the property) but most of all, we loved it because it meant we can have our family and friends in one place for many days - and our celebration can last more than just an evening. We are so excited to share Virginia Park Lodge with you all and have the country estate be our collective home for 3 days. We will be hosting events at the lodge Wednesday and Friday surrounding the wedding and we’d love for everyone to join us for all three days if your schedule allows. We’ll of course be happy to have you for the big day if that’s all your travel permits.
More details about the week’s activities are on the Schedule page.
VIRGINIA PARK LODGE
The lodge was built in the mid 18th century as a hunting lodge for the first Earl of Bective, Thomas Taylour, one of Ireland’s richest men. The estate, set in 100 acres of beautiful Cavan countryside, overlooks Lough Ramor. Since the 18th century, it has been owned by only 4 families in its history. It is now owned by Michelin-starred chef and 3-time Great British Menu Winner Richard Corrigan. Richard is a vehement supporter of British and Irish produce and small independent suppliers - and has cooked for the Queen twice and at the Obama White House too. Watch Richard explain why Virginia Park Lodge is so special in this short video - it’s a great overview of the property.
ACTIVITIES AT VIRGINIA PARK LODGE
A true country estate set on 100 acres of private grounds, there is so much to do at the lodge, including:
Hours of beautiful walking trails
Boating
Fishing
Nine hole golf course
Clay pigeon shooting
All activities are open to guests staying on the property. We will be in touch as we get closer to August with details on how to book these activities.
